KAREN WYLDE
is a native of the Pacific Northwest who was born in Spokane, WA and
raised in Tumwater, WA. She considers herself very luck to be living
in Central Oregon where she is a recent transplant from Portland.
Her
involvement in making fused glass began while living in Portland. "That
city is such a center for glass artists. Whenever I am in Portland,
I'm amazed at the innovative glass art that I see everywhere, especially
fused glass. I hope I can bring some of that inspiration to Central
Oregon and share my work here."
Karen
enjoys working with patterns and designs. She is inpsired by designs
she sees on clothing, carpets, furniture, road signs, or just about
anything. She also enjoys playing with colors. Having lived in Mexico
City and traveled extensively throughout Mexico, color became an important
part of her art. Some of her pieces use metal work created by Gilbert
Shepherd. Karen and Gilbert's common interest in Art Deco designs led
to a collaboration of individually designed plates that are unique and
functional.
Karen
is a member of the Oregon Glass Guild and the Glass Art Sociey.
